Measure a 2d distance between COGO points in Autodesk Civil3d

What are you talking about?

Civil3d works by default in 3d. This is great, its a 3d world after all, well outback NSW pictured could be mistaken for being 2d. The problem is as a land surveyor I deal mainly with plane dimensions when determining boundary locations. If a survey is in 3d and I enquire between two points, I will get a 3d distance which can be frustrating and could lead to errors on plans.

Oh bummer……How do I fix it?

The easiest way to fix this is to turn off the snap that locks to the Z values of objects.
Using OSNAPZ command, change the option to 1 and you will get 2d distances all day long! Need a 3d distance? Enter OSNAPZ again and change the option to 0.

Cool, is there an awesome video showing me how to do it?

Yep
